After years spent reporting on cops in New Jersey's largest city, journalist-turned-P.I. Russell Avery finds himself on the wrong side of the badges he used to rely on when he begins investigating the police killing of a young Black man, learning the truth depends on where you're standing.

This scalding expose of human failures, in which friendships go tragically sour, powerfully updates Raymond Chandler's mean streets. Queally is definitely a writer to watch.
